Question: What is considered proper illumination when flying the flag at night in the USA?
Answer: “Proper illumination” is a light specifically placed to illuminate the flag (preferred) or having a light source sufficient to illuminate the flag so it is recognizable as such by the casual observer (Americanism Commission)

What This Meant for the customer: Every morning and evening, someone had to drive out and raise and lower the American flag because they couldn’t get power to the flagpole location.

Solution

The solution was to supply one GFS-200 solar street light kit which operated completely off grid so did not require any power supply and simply rotate the LED fixture. This light comes standard with a fully rotatable LED fixture capable of angles up to completely vertical. The unit functions automatically too, turning on at dusk, shining a beam of light across the flag so that it could be easily identified from some distance away, then turning off again at dawn each day.
