The site had mains power lights for many years, but due to the aged under-ground electrical system, and regular flooding the connected system failed. Regular repairs were carried out for some time until the system was not repairable anymore. The quote to install all new electrical system, and replace vandalized lights was over $50K. The Green Frog Systems installed solar lighting package only cost $35,600 and they no longer have electrical problems, or damage from floods.

Solution

The GFS product was not the least expensive quote they received for this project. We had previously supplied the City a STEALTH light for another park / playground area and they had 6 months to experience the Green Frog System product quality in action, and all feedback has been very positive. In addition, City staff commented that the GFS customer service to date, which provided greater overall value than some lower cost solar lights systems.

Outcome

The city and staff have a mission to be as sustainable and green as possible moving forward, and we were the first solar lighting company to partner with them. They used another solar lighting company on a project that didn’t really meet their expectations. We hope to earn their future solar lighting business and use our projects as a case study, and we will be honored to have them as a GFS reference moving forward.
